The Goal Expedition Begins
To start my #JustStart your goals journey, right now my most preferred goal to attain is to start working as a content creator who will be running marketing campaigns for brands and businesses, either individually or being a part of a firm. Being a marketing major and holding a talent for art and writing, I found this career best for me. This drill is just not to make a mark as an individual but actually, this goal arose from my personal goal of getting control of my life in my hands by getting financially independent.
In order to achieve this goal, first of all, I’ve to put extra effort into my ambassador program with Raahi (a travel agency) and try to gain many points as possible so that I can enter an industry with my own reference. Secondly, I’ve to watch, read, and listen to tech and business-related videos, blogs, and podcasts. Moreover, I’ve to work on my Instagram account with consistency while following the algorithm to build an engaging and reachable platform as a content creator to attract certain brands and businesses.
Throughout this week, I tried to work hard on the first task and touched a bit on the second task too. I’m planning to perform the third task in the upcoming week as it needs quite more effort and motivation.
This task may seem to be a simple thing to do, but for me, it was an extreme struggle! I have an Instagram following of around 1.5k but I never asked them to like, comment, share, or follow even once. I know it’s a basic marketing technique but for me, it’s like stepping on my self-respect. Quite weird, no? But it has always been like that to me. But for this task, I had to do this at any cost. I repeatedly told myself that it isn’t a matter of respect or dignity but it's a part of my job and that’s how it's done. And for the first time in forever, I did it. Asking people to follow Raahi’s official account wasn’t that much of a big deal but to ask them to reply “done” after that as I had to send screenshots as evidence was the actual drill for me that made me cringe to the core. This time, I couldn’t ask my followers to do it but reached my teenie meenie social circle and asked them to make their friends follow this account too. It was quite overwhelming for me at many points as it was like stepping out of my comfort zone. And this made me realize that I need to work on my awkward self and grow my self-confidence if I want to do it for brands as a content creator in the future.
Recently, I’ve started to explore podcasts to listen to during my evening walks as I want to avoid music as much as possible. Secondly, music is of no use, while listening to meaningful podcasts enhances knowledge and mental growth. So I decided to listen to podcasts related to my field and played this one during one of my walks. It was an extremely wonderful podcast named “Making Pakistan’s First E-commerce Policy Ft, Badar Khushnood”. I found it a little hard to concentrate on the talk while walking but tried my best to maintain my focus and it left me with so much learning and revision. With the advanced aspects of e-commerce, digital marketing, and seamless technologies, this podcast covered it all. I’ve to continue this task till the next week and I’m sure that it’ll add up to my sea of knowledge regarding these topics.
For the upcoming week, I’ve to return to my Instagram to post and engage consistently. Secondly, there are more tasks in my ambassador programs, that I’ve to work on. Thirdly, I’ll keep a track of the latest information about my field and future goal.
